Another Unlocked Locker Pilfered at Fitness Center

A member's cell phone is taken from his locker and police question two kids because of suspicious action

Police responded to another call for a stolen item at the Twinsburg Fitness Center on Feb. 21.

An employee called to report that a member's cell phone was taken from his locker, which had no lock, and that the suspects were still at the scene.

The man put his personal things in the locker before his workout and when he returned an hour later the locker door was open and his stuff was on the ground, his $580 cell phone missing.

When police reviewed surveillance video with management, they saw two kids walking out of the locker room multiple times, acting as if they were on the lookout for somone, and stepping back inside.

Police found the 14-year-old boys, cousins, playing basketball and asked to inspect their lockers. They were unable to find the missing phone.

Officers asked why they were acting so suspicious, going back and forth from the locker room, and they said they couldn't decide to go to the pool or the gym. Their story changed later, when they said they were looking for their friends and deciding where to go.

Police noticed that while they couldn't decide if they should go to the pool, neither of them brought anything to go swimming in.

One boy's mother came to their rescue, asking what was going on, saying she didn't want them speaking to police.

Officers have no further leads.

Why didn't the police just call the cell phone?
