Best Staycation Destinations: This Week's Readers' Choice

Where in town do you go to have some fun on your days off?

For many of us, going on vacation doesn't necessarily mean taking a trip.

Going on vacation can simply mean chillin' at home -- going out to eat, doing some fun things in town and maybe getting a few household chores done.

We're so glad someone invented a name for this kind of non-travelin' vacation: The Staycation.

This week's Readers' Choice focuses on Best Staycation Destinations. Beginning today -- Monday, May 7 -- and through 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, we'll be asking for your recommendations for places to go while on a staycation.

Where to go on a staycation? A local putt-putt course ... the historical society ... a bowling alley ... the spa ... the video arcade. These are places where you can relax and have a little fun.

Give us your recommendation in the comments section below. With your help, we'll put together a list of nominees. Then look for our poll on Thursday, May 10 and vote! We'll select a winner at 5 p.m. Friday, May 11 and announce it in a story on Saturday, May 12.

In judging, we'll consider comments, poll votes and reviews in our complete directory of local businesses. Be sure to check out our contest rules in the PDF at right.

Cuyahoga Valley Recreation area... Peninsula , Ohio. Gorgeous hiking fab. Bike paths meandering along river, ponds.. Hills and forests. Town of Peninsla you can eat & drink in quaint eateries and cute shops are walk able. Family outings or just walk and take photos. Migratory birds.. Giant herons nesting. Fresh farm stands and you can even catch the train down in the valley. Hale Farm and Boston Mills Artfest one of the best in the country.

Recently took a summer vacation to Akron. Stayed at the Sheraton Suites. Went to an Aeros game, a play at Kent State's Porthouse Theatre, an afternoon at the Akron Zoo. Dined in Cuyahoga Falls and Akron. Lovely time and great price.
