Council to Talk Solon Jail Agreement, Recycling Program

Twinsburg City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall

Solon has already discussed housing some of Twinsburg's inmates, now it's the city's turn. Twinsburg City Council will discuss this and other topics tonight at 7 p.m. at the Twinsburg Government Center.

(Check out tonight's agenda in our PDF section to the right.)

Solon Patch reported last week the agreement has been preliminarily approved by Solon's law department. City councils in both cities must first approve of the contract.

The proposed two-year deal says Twinsburg will pay Solon $75 per prisoner per day. A day counts as eight hours. Any prisoner who stays for less than a day will cost Twinsburg $42.50.

Twinsburg City Council is expected to vote on the resolution tonight.

Council will also try to go out for a grant for a new recycling program.

They hope, by applying for the grant from the Akron Solid Waste Management Authority, to implement and improve new and existing recycling programs.

Check back tomorrow for more in-depth coverage from tonight's meeting.
