Football Program Moving to Division II

The Twinsburg Tiger football team will be leaving Division I in 2013

On Thursday the Ohio High School Athletic Association approved adding a seventh tournament division to high school football by a 6-3 vote, forcing some teams to change divisions.

According to Ohio.com, the Twinsburg Tigers will be affected by the change.

Twinsburg will drop from its current Division I standing to Division II for the 2013 season, Ohio.com reports. They will be joined by Cuyahoga Falls, Nordonia, as well as other teams forced to make the move.

According to the OHSAA, the move was made to address the "enrollment disparity" between Division I schools and make teams more even, it said in a press release.

The Tigers barely missed the state playoffs last season, despite a huge win over the top Division I team, Mentor.

Twinsburg Patch will follow up with more on this story next week.
