Editor's Note: The following is a letter to the editor from a Twinsburg resident.
In light of Friday's tragedy in Newtown, CT, I'm writing to you with concern for security in Twinsburg City School buildings.
Budget concerns aside, I feel it necessary to demand that an on-duty Twinsburg Police officer be stationed at the access-door of each school. A foolproof solution? No. But, a uniformed officer in the doorway may give pause to someone bent on maximum mayhem before first-responders have left the station. The door buzzer system currently used does not inspire confidence.
My 10 year old is a fourth-grader at Dodge. My 9 year old is in third-grade at Bissell. My 6 year old loves his first-grade class at Wilcox. Next year, our youngest will enter the System, as well.
We are happy residents of our town. We eagerly voted for the levy to keep our schools great. Please consider this idea to keep our children safe.
