Man Tells Police He Usually Drives at 190 MPH

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

This guy will readily admit: He has the need for speed.

Joseph Emrick, 49, of Windham, was charged with drunken driving and reckless operation after Twinsburg police clocked his car flying down I-480 at 115 mph.

While finishing up one traffic stop on Nov. 4 just before 3 a.m. when they were alerted about a car going about 120 mph on the highway.

Once police found him they noticed he was weaving across the road and he was still gaining speed.

Emrick admitted to speeding and failed field sobriety tests, according to police.

However, the biggest shocker to police was what he told them after.

While sitting in the back of a cruiser, he told officers that he "regularly travels I-480 at speeds of 160 to 190 mph," according to the report. But he said he only does it around 4 a.m. when no one is on the road.

He then told police he had his car modified to "unlimited speed" but wasn't using all of its power that evening.
