Ohio School Report Card Release Delayed Until Investigation Over

The Ohio Board of Education is holding off on the release of the report cards until an investigation is complete, but some info is coming near the end of the month.

The release of Ohio’s school report cards will continue to be delayed while the state auditor investigates whether some districts manipulated attendance data.

The state Board of Education on Tuesday decided to release some of the information to the public around the end of September, Ohio Department of Education Associate Director of Communications John Charlton said in an email. The data will not include attendance rates, performance index or overall ratings, and the board has not set a date to release the full report cards at this time.

That means Twinsburg Schools parents won’t know the results for some time. The ratings are usually released at the end of August. Last year, Twinsburg Schools earned outstanding ratings.

According to StateImpact Ohio, the auditor’s investigation could continue into 2013. The Columbus Dispatch has more on the scandal and the board members’ reasoning behind the limited data release.
