Police: Woman Attempts Suicide With Young Son Present

Her 7-year-old son had to call for help after she overdosed on pain relievers, report says.

A 7-year-old boy saved his mother's life after an apparent suicide attempt, according to Twinsburg police.

The Darrow Park Road boy called his aunt in California, who called police in Cleveland, which then alerted officers in Twinsburg.

When police arrived to the woman's apartment, officers found the 37-year-old woman "passed out on the couch" with her son in the apartment, according to police.

Officers attempted to keep her awake, even though she was not responding to their questions.

The boy said his mom had taken some pills and police found empty bottles of ibuprofen and night-time pain reliever.

When police spoke to the aunt, she said the mother called her earlier, saying things like "I can't, I'm not stable" and "I took 150 pills because I can't handle it."

Police turned over custody of the son to the woman's boyfriend while she was transported to a hospital in Bedford.
