School Board Will Vote on Levy Thursday

The agenda for Thursday's board of education meeting has a 4.9 mill tax levy for board approval

Many parents and residents have waited for the Twinsburg schools to decide on a levy for the November ballot, and now it has.

According to the agenda for Thursday's meeting, the board will vote on a resolution declaring it necesarry to request an additional 4.9 mill tax levy. The meeting will be at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.

The levy would generate almost $3.8 million annually.

Board members have said before there would be a need for a levy, but were unsure how much.

Treasurer Martin Aho said earlier this month that the district's cash reserve would be in the red by 2016.

Superintendent Kathryn Powers and School Board President Ron Stuver were unavailable for comment at the time of posting.

When does it ever end. First they raise our local tax to 2.25%. One of the highest in the state. Now they want another levy. We are already paying for a renewal in our current property tax. They talk about the district going in the red. Well what about residents going in the red? Means less money to save for college.
