Toastmasters: It's the Talk of Twinsburg

Twinsburg Toastmasters meets on Monday evenings at the Cleveland Clinic

The Twinsburg Toastmasters Club is up and running in the city.

A newly formed open-enrollment affiliate of Toastmasters International has launched with 16 energetic members and is well on its way toward full club strength of 20 members, according to a club press release.

The group meets Mondays from 6:45-8 p.m. at The Cleveland Clinic Family Health & Surgery Center, 8701 Darrow Road, in the lower level educational classroom.

Toastmasters' mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills while fostering self-confidence and personal growth.

“It has been a dream of mine to develop a thriving Toastmasters Club in Twinsburg,” Dennis Deegan, club sponsor, resident and veteran Toastmaster, said. “If you want to make new friends and have fun while learning, Toastmasters is that club.”

The club achieves its mission by having a structured program whereby members present prepared speeches developed at their own pace and are then given useful feedback on the strengths of their delivery and suggestions for improvement.

Members also practice their impromptu speaking skills and all are provided one of many roles at meetings so everyone gets to speak.

I was fortunate to have met with Dennis Deegan a few days ago. His background, vision and passion, combined with Toastmasters mission and track record create a Win-Win situation for the Twinsburg area. The Toastmaster experience is an invaluable benefit that enhances one's communication skills. Those skills are a must-have in today's business and work environment. I would urge anyone seeking expanded opportunities, or just becoming more secure in their current environment, to check out the Toastmaster program. CONGRATULATIONS Dennis, your vision is well on it's way to fulfilling dreams and enhancing lives.

Ms. Komidar,
I attended the Monday (Oct. 1st) meeting of the Twinsburg Toastmasters, and was indeed impressed. Dennis Deegan represented the Toastmaster Vision, Objectives, Responsibilities and more in a professional yet very inspiring way. The interaction of all in attendance was friendly, nurturing, and obviously moving the group in the direction of establishing Twinsburg Toastmasters as a fine model.
