The Lady Comets couldn't stop Twinsburg's star duo as the Tigers defeated Solon 56-48 Saturday night at Solon High School.

Malina Howard and Ashley Morrissette, key peices on Twinsburg's state championship team last year, continued their stellar play, contributing 44 of the Tigers' 56 points. Howard had 25 and Morrissette scored 19.

Solon fought hard, keeping the game close in the first half. The Comets went cold in the third quarter, not scoring until late in the period. But Solon went on a tear in the late third, scoring 11 points in the last couple of minutes to bring the score to 39-33.

Leading the charge for Solon was Kristen Confroy with 21 points and Martha Thompson with 15 points.

Twinsburg and Solon now have matching 14-3 records. The Tigers also defeated the Comets in their previous meeting in December.
