Tuesday's ceremony officially unveiled the new trail and parking lot in Liberty Park.

Officials from Metro Parks, Serving Summit County and Twinsbur were on-hand Tuesday morning to dedicate the new Twinsburg Ledges Area in Liberty Park.

A 70-car parking lot and nearly half-mile entrance drive were constructed by Metro Parks this year to make possible the opening of the much-anticipated 1.1 mile Ledges Trail, which leads visitors past a fern and moss-covered system of sandstone ledges, into Glacier Cave and to the edge of a wetland. The trail was built in 2009 with a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

At more than 1,800 acres, Liberty Park exists because of a unique partnership between Twinsburg and Metro Parks. The city manages the recreation area with play fields and a playground. The park district manages the remaining acreage, including the new Twinsburg Ledges Area and the Pond Brook Conservation Area on SR 82.
