On Feb. 9, Twinsburg High School's Great Expectations Show Choir and the RBC Singers, under the direction of Randall Lanoue, excelled in the DeKalb Show Choir Invitational. Great Expectations won Grand Champion along with Best Vocals and Best Choreography! The RBC Singers won Grand Champion in the middle school division along with Best Vocals and Best Choreography! "SimpleWash" clears Facebook profiles of unwanted content
College students preparing to enter the workplace have to be concerned with much more than just résumés, cover letters and their wardrobes. Most students today have some type of online presence, and prospective employers often scan these digital footprints to see if there are any signs of less-than-professional behavior. Three Kent State University students recently developed a Web application to help those looking to clean up their acts – virtually speaking. Computer science majors Camden Fullmer, Daniel Gur and David Steinberg created FaceWash – now known as SimpleWash – in a weekend “hackathon,” a programming competition at the University of Pennsylvania that was held Jan. 18 – 20. A number of Twinsburg High art students have their works on display this week at Kent State's Stark Campus after they were recognized as part of the Scholastic Arts Competition.
Congratulations to a number of Twinsburg High School art students who were recognized for awards as part of the Scholastic Arts Competition. The competition is a national art competition with awards given on both regional and national levels. Gold and Silver Key winners' works of art will be on display at the Kent State Campus Fine Arts Building, Stark Campus until Jan. 30. All Gold Key winners are automatically entered into the national judging and may be awarded additional recognition. Gold Key Recipients: Alaynah Carney and Leah Edwards. Twinsburg High's Great Expectations show choir was named Grand Champion at the Marysville Show Choir Showcase.
Twinsburg High's Great Expectations Show Choir was named Grand Champions at last weekend's Marysville Show Choir Showcase, besting some of the most accomplished show choirs in the midwest. Among the vanquished was neighboring rival Solon, whose Music in Motion Show Choir was the top-ranked in the country and had won grand champion at every competition last year. Solon won second place. Great Expectations also received an award for best choreography. Twinsburg's win over Solon is quite the accomplishment. Solon was ranked first in the online National Show Choir Rank System. Twinsburg was rated 29th. Congratulations to the show choir on this big win!

Twinsburg Community Theatre will debut its production of "The Music Man" on Friday at Twinsburg High School.
Twinsburg Community Theatre will debut its production of "The Music Man" on Friday at Twinsburg High School. Eight performances of "The Music Man" are scheduled. The play features more than 100 Twinsburg residents as actors. The plot is set in 1912 and follows con man Harold Hill (played by Michael Turle) who falls for librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo (played by Jenna Elmore) and risks being caught for his crimes. Artist Diane Duncan Bieber’s exhibit “ICONS – The Harmony & Holiness of Sacred Art” is the featured exhibit for January at the Twinsburg Public Library’s art gallery. Hudson artist Diane Duncan Bieber is an accomplished artist who uses her unique artistic talents as an extension of her personal faith. She calls her works a form of religious Iconography. Iconography is an art form which dates from the earliest days of Christianity. A sacred person or event is painted according to traditional designs. The artist's exhibit of senior paintings will be on display at the Solon Center for the Arts through Dec. 14
An exhibit of paintings the artist says depict "amazing old souls" will be on display in Solon through mid-December. "The Solon Senior Project: Judy Takacs Paints Fascinating Wisdom" opens tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Solon Center for the Arts with a reception. The exhibit runs through Dec. 14. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. "Each week, for the past nine months or so, I painted a different senior citizen at the Solon Senior Center," Takacs said in an email.
