Three French Hens, Two Adam Gockowskis? And partridge in a pear tree!

Just when you think that there is no one in the world that shares the same name as you; think again. Besides my father, I have never met another person with the
name of Adam Gockowski until a year ago around now.

I was at home in Twinsburg for Thanksgiving Break and I was in the kitchen when my mother called me down to the basement. My mother wanted to show me someone she found on Facebook, someone named Adam Gockowski.

When asked my mom how she found this kid, she was quick to answer by saying “I wasn’t searching you on here (Facebook).”

She totally was looking me up on Facebook to see my business.

Back to the story, I couldn’t believe that there was another Adam Gockowski. My name is such a unique Polish name; I truly never thought that I would meet another Adam Gockowski. So, I signed on to my Facebook account and starting creeping on the other Adam Gockowski’s Facebook. I was not able to find out much besides that his is from Poland. Most of his Facebook was private and the stuff that was public was all in Polish.

So I decided to send him friend request anyways.

Later that night, “Adam Gockowski is now friends with Adam Gockowski” and I sent him a message right away. I was nervous that wouldn’t understand a word that I said, but luckily, he was able to read and write English.

We became pen-pals over Facebook. We would talk about random things like school, sports, and college life. He goes to the University of Warmia and Mazury in
Olsztyn, thousands and thousands of miles away from Kent State University,
where I attend college.

As the year has gone on, the more that Adam and I was talk. My younger brother, Mark, has also kept in touch with our polish friend through Facebook.

I thought it would be funny to create a campaign to have both Adam Gockowskis meet in person. My friends are all joking saying that I’m probably talking to a
serial killer over the internet. The Polish Adam’s friends might think the same
about me!

This Christmas Season, My brother and I are sending an American care package to the Polish Adam Gockowski. The package will have stuff from my American life like a Cleveland Indians hat & shirt, Kent State gear, and a Christmas card.

I may never meet the other Adam Gockowski in my whole life, but I find it awesome that Facebook was able connect two people from opposites parts of the world.
