There are only a select county offices in Ohio to begin offering this type of identification card.
Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise's office is now offering a new wallet-size veteran identification card. The new veteran identification card will serve as an alternative to the Armed Forces Discharge record known as a DD Form 214, or DD214. Summit County is among the first in the state of Ohio to provide this service to veterans. “I am proud to be among the first in Ohio to provide this service to our veterans,” said Scalise in a prepared statement. “We have made the process of getting a card very simple and convenient. Summit County's Summer Youth Employment Program is accepting registration for youths 16-24 interested in summer jobs.
The County of Summit Executive Russell M. Pry Facebook page announced that it is hiring youths in Twinsburg for summer jobs. See the attached .pdf for details. A registration is planned at the Twinsburg Public Library from 3 to 6 p.m. May 15, 2013.

Twinsburg Schools plans to add a small addition on the entrance at Wilcox Elementary to improve security. Plans for the addition will go before the Twinsburg City Council Tuesday. They have already been approved by the planning commission. According to plans, the 155-square-foot addition would create a parent and visitor welcome center and provide and provide an additional security feature. The Twinsburg Schools have been taking many steps in recent months to improve safety and security at the district's buildings. After months of planning, the staff is undergoing training and revamping its security procedures. Waste Management is busy delivering new trash and recycling containers to Twinsburg residents as part of the city's new automated refuse pickup program. Waste Management is providing all residents with a 96-gallon trash container and a 64-gallon recycling bin that will be used for once-per-week pickup. These containers will be picked up using a semi-automated process that was tested in 500 Twinsburg homes in Ward 1 last year. The automated process involves the way the truck picks up the containers from the curb. Over the life of the contract, Twinsburg would be expected to pay Waste Management $5,448,196. The Twinsburg Planning Commission approved the preliminary site plan for a housing development at Corbett's Farm.
A residential housing development at Corbett's Farm appears to be moving forward again after it was ensnarled in lawsuits for years. The Twinsburg Planning Commission approved this week a site plan that would allow development at the Corbett's Farm site at the corner of Darrow Road and Glenwood Boulevard. The Twinsburg Bulletin reports that under the site plan, the developers would be able to build as many as 96 homes on the 82-acre site. The vote appears to be part of a deal to get past the lawsuit, which was filed by developer MSRK, LLC in 2007. Court records show that the developer was seeking to build as many as 200 homes, but city officials refused those zoning requests. The lawsuit followed. It is now pending in appeals court and is…

Twinsburg residents expressed anger and outrage last week over a proposed gun shop, our news partner WEWS Channel 5 reports. Last week, the city’s mayor said the business owner posted a sign that said “Twinsburg Public Safety and Firearms Coming Soon” at the former Pete’s Home Bakery location at 10683 Ravenna Rd. Twinsburg is one of nine communities selected to receive free technical assistance in 2013.
Twinsburg will soon train the community on the benefits of having and updating its walkable areas thanks to a federal grant. The city was one of nine communities selected to receive a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, according to Project Public Spaces. Project for Public Spaces and our partners at Livability Solutions will offer free technical assistance in 2013 to Twinsburg, thanks to a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Sustainable Communities under their Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program. Twinsburg will work with the Congress for the New Urbanism to train the community on the benefits of walkable urban thoroughfares. The training is said to help create a town…
