Chris Perez, Stop Talking!

Tribe Closer, Chris Perez, must have been spending too much time at the casino if he thinks he can gamble on the fans once again by calling them out.

Earlier this week, Perez was reported by the New York Times by saying that Cleveland needs to stop rooting against LeBron & does not understand why we root for the Browns.

I supported Perez when he called us out for not supporting the Tribe but I refuse to support him on this.

To tell Cleveland to stop hating LeBron only a few days after LeBron wins the NBA Championship is crazy. First of all, Perez is from Miami and is a Heat fan. He knows how sensitive LBJ is to Cleveland. Personally, I'm annoyed of people telling us to get over it.

I work with people that are not sports fans and are not from Cleveland. Earlier this week, they told me to get over LeBron and I turned the other cheek. There are two things that they don't understand; 1) What it is like to be a Clevelander when the nation looks down on you and 2) It is not that LeBron left, it is how he did it. Cleveland has always been America's joke, and when your hometown hero embarrasses you on national TV; Don't expect me to forget.

Truth be told, I have hated LeBron since the Tribe's playoff run in 2007, when he went to Game 1 of the ALDS to root for the New York Yankees. People defended LeBron back then saying that he has always been a Yankees fan. I truly believe that LeBron never really liked the Evil Empire, he just didn't want the Indians winning a championship the same year that he was swept in the finals & have the attention away from him, but that is just my belief. If he was really a Yankees fan or not, the real issue that I have was during his playoff run in 2007, the Indians would go next door to the Q and support the Cavs, even if they personally had no other ties to Cleveland. LeBron James could not return the favor and had to root against his neighbors when they were up for the Heavy Weight Title of the World. If Chris Perez would have played on the 2007 playoff team, he would hate LeBron as well.

And then on to what Perez said about the Brownies.

“Their whole thing is, ‘We want a winner.’ Well, why do you support the Browns? They don’t win. They’ve never won. They left. You guys blindly support them. I don’t understand it. It’s a double standard, and I don’t know why,” Perez said.

I don't completely understand what he is talking about when he says that it is a "double standard." If he comparing the Browns leaving to LeBron leaving, that is comparing a death to a divorce. The Browns were kidnapped and LeBron broke up with us. But I think what he was trying to say is that the Browns get more support than the Indians do even though the Indians normally do better. That is true, I'll agree on that but Cleveland has always been a Brown's Town. I don't get it as well but I grew up in an era of no Browns' football and all Playoff Baseball every year.

I do think that Perez needs to stop talking because no one wants a nagging boyfriend or girlfriend that is picking them apart every chance that they get. Homie is not a home boy, he is from Miami, not Cleveland. If he doesn't want to get booed again, then he might need to go get a muzzle.
