Dear Tribe: Sometimes You Make it Hard for Me to Love You

A fan's rant about the Tribe's problems

Patch is very lucky that I love Twinsburg Local Editor Mitch Cooper because the Cleveland Indians are making it hard for me to write blogs about them in the last week.

I know that I stated in a past blog of mine that I would stop being so negative about baseball, but since I have said that, the Tribe has gone 2-8. If we want to win, then I guess no more Mister Nice Guy!

Before anyone comments and says “Well, you can’t be mad! Half of the lineup is injured!”  Let me say one thing: Yes, it does hurt that Santana, Hannahan, and Pronk have been out of the lineup but that is NOT the problem.

The problem is the starting pitching. The starters have been giving up a bunch of first inning runs, the long ball is way too common, and they have been getting run support.

Derek Lowe is the man, we all know that. I am very nervous about Masterson and Tomlin because they have not been themselves lately. Gomez is still very young, so give him time to mature.

Ubaldo is the pitching staff problem child. He has 99 problems and his pitch(ing) is 1.

For those of you whom read my blogs on a regular basis, you know that I normally do not write about the actual game of baseball itself, but more about everything related to it like fans and the social side of it. This is a rare blog but I do have to rant for a paragraph or two.

I always said that there are three “B”s in life that can kill a man: Booze, Babes and Baseball.

I have openly joked that the paper might as well write my obituary now but just save the time of death for later. Sadly enough, I know that my readers are nodding their heads up and down agreeing with that statement because we have all been heartbroken before.

Cleveland Indians baseball is like the love of your life: There are so many great moments between you two and you will always love them. But when you get swept by Chicago, then go 1 out of 3 between the Royals and the Twins, they make it hard for me to love them.

In the beginning of April, when we were 1-4, I was convinced that the Tribe was going to kill me by May. So I decided to write my will and post it all over Facebook. Right after I did that, we started winning.

So, who knows; maybe by this time next week I’ll be in a better mood. The problem is that we have only one home series left in the month of June. We have a difficult road series ahead of us starting on Tuesday in Detroit.

On the bright side, June is not a cake walk for Chicago as well.
