Allison Bates, 16, won the Masters Division race Saturday at Derby Downs in Akron

First, it was the Lady Tigers basketball team. Now, Twinsburg has a new champion.

Allison Bates, 16, won the Masters Division race Saturday at Derby Downs in Akron, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

In the 74th year of the competition, Bates was one of seven champions crowned on the day.

Bates was quite ecstatic about her victory.

“This is my first time placing in the All-American,” Allison told the Beacon Journal. “My God, it feels great.”

In her sixth year competing, Bates was the first Akron-area Masters Division champion since 1999, the Beacon reported.
