Fire Captain: Denis Leary Down-To-Earth, Boosted Morale

The actor visited with members of the Twinsburg Fire Department over the weekend.

It's not every day that Denis Leary comes through your fire station.

But the Twinsburg Fire Department was able to host the famous actor over the weekend, after months of working out the details.

Fire Captain Steve Bosso said John Knaus, union president, was the man behind the scenes trying to make it happen over the last month and it was well worth it.

"I was very surprised how down to earth he [Leary] was," Bosso said. "He fit right in."

Leary spent a few hours at the station and had dinner with the crew and their significant others. D'Angelo's provided dinner for the group.

Leary, who starred in the hit-show Rescue Me, about a firefighter in New York City, shared experiences he had while filming the show and wanted to know more about Twinsburg's fire department and community.

"He was a lot of fun and a pleasure to be around," Bosso said.

Having Leary in-house was a big boost for the guys at the station, the captain added.

"Morale is always high but it's off the charts now. The other firehouse are like, 'Are you kidding me, you got him to come in?'"

Leary is filming Draft Day in Cleveland, a film starring Kevin Costner about the Cleveland Browns in the NFL Draft.
