School is back in session, but we still have some great things to do this week

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: , Thursday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Students in grades 7-12 are invited to join in these and more volunteer opportunities. Participants will learn how to work with children as well as with other library activities.

Where/When: , Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m.

Why Go: Kindermusik of Cleveland will be on hand at the Solon Branch library, enjoy a free demonstration class. Kindermusik works to improve language and your toddler's literacy skills. Participants will also see social and emotional development. The program also helps develop both mathematical and pattern identifying skills. 

The class is best for toddlers, aged 19-35 months.

Where/When: , Sunday, Aug. 28, from 2-3 p.m.

Why go: The music series wraps up the season with a performance from the Tony Meda Project.  This one-mand band will tickle and amuse everyone with the fun and silly songs on just a Casio keyboard. Rain date will be inside the library. Register early for your seat.
