Ask the psychic event goes through 145-year-old house of worship

Editor's Note: This story was just too interesting to not share it with you, so we swiped it from Kent Patch for your enjoyment.

Ever wish you could see into your future, “speak” with deceased loves ones and go on a ghost hunt – all in the same evening?

It’s possible this Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. when the hosts an “Ask the Psychic Fundraiser.” Pre-registration is not required; cost to attend is $19 per person.

Laura Lyn Lute, a well-known psychic/medium and author of Healing with the Angel Rays, will give predictions as she takes personal questions from the audience. She will work through cards, pendulums and spiritual insight to bring forth answers during the first two hours of the event.

Audience members will be able to have hands-on experience with tools of the trade such as pendulums, dousing rods and crystals.

Lute also will offer the opportunity to speak with the church ghosts from 9 to 10 p.m.

“There will be a presentation where we will attempt communication," Lute said. "Expect candlelight and a hauntingly wonderful ambiance to all be a part of this fascinating evening.”

Event co-chair Sandy Bowers said Lute “was excellent” during a fundraiser at last October, which is what inspired her to set up Friday’s event at the church.

“She did a similar ‘ask the psychic’ portion and we were impressed that what she was saying to folks was specific, it wasn’t vague,” Bowers said. “For family members who had passed away, she had responses that were very accurate – that could be verified.”

As for ghosts at the church, Bowers said she has been a member for 10 years and “has always heard about it.”

Many people believe that spirits roaming the 145-year-old building include a woman who served as minister there prior to 1900, as well as a male.

Colleen Norris, event co-chair, has spent a lot of time in the building alone while performing her duties as church sexton. She knows of many other church members who have had other-worldly experiences there.

“Things happen in our church that are unexplainable: windows that open after they’ve been latched, lights that turn on,” Norris said. “There’s no fear – you don’t feel like you have to run outside. It’s more of a startling curiosity.”

As an example, Norris said that once, while cleaning the stairwell, “It sounded as if someone three to four steps away from me took off pounding up the wooden steps, running across the floor upstairs, opening the library door and then slamming it closed.”

Norris and others who have had similar experiences believe that spirit to be the former minister. “She doesn’t roam the entire church. Her plane of existence is the sanctuary and where the library is now, on the second floor, and some of the third floor,” she said.

Several vendors will be selling their wares – including crystals, jewelry and other metaphysical items – both before and after Lute’s program.

Lute has opened the Angel Rays Enrichment Center in Cuyahoga Falls, which offers a platform for many teachers and healers. The center is also the headquarters of Spiritual Insight Ghost Hunting Team.
