The best gift that a father can receive is that you listened ... to something

If you had your father growing up, or at least a man who served as a father figure in your life, you know one thing for sure: He was always full of advice.

Now whether that advice was useful at all is another story, but if there's something dads are good at, it's giving instruction and direction.

CNN.com recently ran an interesting article asking readers for the best advice they had ever gotten from pops. Here are some responses:

"The best advice my father gave me: 'Remember, before doing anything in life, if what you do/say cannot be printed on the headlines of every magazine on the planet, you probably shouldn't do it.' I have to say, it certainly keeps one honest," AlwaysFrugal recalls.

"Drive as if everyone else on the road is crazy," the father of NJNCPS warned.
