She was running errands with her 21-month-old son at in Solon. While strapping him in to the toddler carriage of the shopping cart, she found the wallet containing what Kleppinger estimated as a "couple thousand dollars cash."

"My first thought is, 'Oh my gosh, somebody must be extremely worried right now,' " Kleppinger said. "It’s not like five bucks just fell out of your pocket."

Rather than leave it in the store’s care, Kleppinger thought it would be better off in the hands of the Solon police.

Later that day her husband got a call from the Solon Police Department. With their second baby on the way, he was alarmed at first, but when he heard what happened he was quite relieved. The police had found the owner of the wallet and the officer wanted to say thank you.

"He said thank you and how much he really appreciated it," she said. "He said he would leave a little reward for us at the station, which we said wasn’t necessary."

Kleppinger said she’s no hero, but just did what she thought everyone should do.
