Ancient Greeks / Modern Lives: A National Conversation
The critically acclaimed Aquila Theater company will be at the Library as part of a major national humanities program traveling throughout the United States with a mission to inspire people to come together to read, see and think about classical literature and how it continues to influence and invigorate American cultural life. The New York-based troupe will present a staged reading of scenes from Greek drama, including selections from Homer’s Odyssey, Aeschylus’ Agamemnon, Sophocles’ Ajax and Euripides’ Herakles. The performance will be followed by a town hall-style discussion with Ohio State University classics professor Tom Hawkins.
