1. Chill 'n' Grill

Why Go: Hear the wonderful sounds of the Ross Faranda Jazz Ensemble and have a pleasent afternoon lunch provided by the Solon High School Drama Club. All proceeds from food sales benefit the Solon High School Drama Club Scholarship Program.

Pricing: Event is free and open to the public. Lunches cost from $5 to $6.50

2. Rock The Park: The Spazmatics

Where/When: Glen Chamberlain Park, 10260 Ravenna Rd., Twinsburg.

Friday, July 8, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: This band will take you back to the '80s when MTV and VH1 were still new and only played music videos. Spike your hair with mousse and slip on your parachute pants, then sit outdoors under the stars and listen to all those old favorites full of synthesizers.

Pricing: Free and open to the public.

3. Solon Center for the Arts Gallery Featured Artist: Diane Arthurs

Where/When: Solon Center For The Arts, 6315 SOM Center Rd., Solon.

Exhibit runs until July 29 - For updated gallery times call 440-337-1400 

Why Go: See this painter's artwork that was inspired by a trip to the Mediterranean. She has titled the exhibit: La Bella Vita, the Beautiful Life. Stop by the gallery to enjoy and support this local artist.

Pricing: Free and open to the Public.

4. Solon's Got Talent Auditions

Where/When: Solon Center for the Arts, 6315 SOM Center Rd., Solon.

Saturday, July 9, noon to 4 p.m.

Sunday, July 10, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For audition reservations call 440-337-1400.

Why Go: Find your 15 minutes of fame. You could be the next worldwide superstar, or at least a star in your own town. This competition is for Solon residents only. Winners move on to perform live on the Home Days Main Stage on July 30.  

Pricing: Free.

5. Cain Park Arts Fest

Where/When: Cain Park, 14591 Superior Rd., Cleveland Heights.

Friday, July 8, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 9, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday, July 10, noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Walk the park and see 150 artists show their stuff. This annual juried fine arts and fine crafts event has been a summer favorite since the 1970s. Talented artisans present their paintings, prints, jewelry, metal work, sculpture, photograpy, pottery, glass and more.

Pricing: Free on Friday, $5 on Saturday and Sunday, with children 12 and under free.

6. Cleveland Indians baseball game

Where/When: Progressive Field, 2401 Ontario St., downtown Cleveland.

Why Go: It's July and your Cleveland Indians are still at the top of the American League Central Division. They play the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend before taking the mid-season ALL-Star break. This series features two nights of fireworks, two days of kids' activities and fun for the whole family at each game.

Pricing: Cheapest seats are $8 Upper Reserved and $10 Bleachers, while most expensive is the $85 Diamond Box. Half-Price student tickets are Lower Reserved and Mezzanine only, and require proof of ID. Go to indians.com for more ticket prices and details.
