What Should Replace TLC Liquor?

Patch's Visions for Vacancies asks for your input on vacant commercial properties

For several weeks now Kent residents on the west side of town have had to buy their hard liquor elsewhere following the closure of TLC Liquor on West Main Street.

Dennis Ginty, Deputy Communications Director for the Ohio Department of Commerce, said in an email TLC Liquor transferred its contract liquor agency permit to Giant Eagle, at 4300 Kent Road in Stow, OH, on Oct. 31.

"TLC still has retail permits to sell carryout beer (C1 permit), carryout wine and mixed beverages (C2 permit), and tasting privileges which allow them to sell 2-ounce samples of beer, wine and mixed beverages (D8 permit)," Ginty said.

However, the liquor store space has been emptied and all the shelves and coolers left bare.

That means the space is likely to be available for a new use.

And we want to know what kind of store, service or agency would work best in your neighborhood. Tell us in the comments what you would like to see go into the space vacated by TLC Liquor.

And you can be sure I took my rifle out and shot that wild sugar beet running for it's life across the suburban countryside. Afterward I hung that beet up by it's feet, slit it's throat and let the sugary goodness drip from it's wounds. Ummmmmm, excess sugar.

Next time, before we get all excited about privatization...we better THINK and PONDER ..who...we will be allowing, giving authority..to sell Hard liquor to! At least before, we had State Employees, checking I.D.s, monitoring sales and inventory, and keeping the stores clean and running smooth! We saved 20 million? Chump change, in todays economy, right? It would be worth the 20 million bucks to have this Liquor mess straightened out, like before! Voinovich just created another headache for OHIO!! We can't just let..anybody sell hard liquor to the public! I liked it the way it was BEFORE!!!
