Is Twinsburg to Become 'Just Another Town'?

Is Twinsburg to Become 'Just Another Town'?

With new development, history seems to disappear as new homes are built and local politicians clear the way for yet more strip malls and townhouses.  Development can't happen fast enough for Mayor Procop and City Council.  What’s their hurry?  What’s the motivation?

The 'Old School' will be next on the history chopping block.  One day the folks that moved into the quaint quite suburb of Twinsburg seeking its small town atmosphere will find it no more.  A distant memory replaced by strip malls and townhouses.  What a glorious day it will be for the politicians when Twinsburg becomes ‘Just Another Town’ in Summit County, blended into Solon, Macedonia, Streetsboro, and Hudson; no longer unique.

I hope Mayor Procop and City Council will be proud when history recalls them as the folks that made Twinsburg ‘Just Another Town’ in ‘just another neighborhood’, with no roots and history but faded pictures hung in the Historical Museum barn.

Now our local politicians want us to trust a layer of government of secrecy, known as the Twinsburg Community Improvement Corporation (TCIC) touted by Mayor Procop at her State of the City address.  City Council authorized $300,000 “seed money” from the City Treasury.  What guarantee is there our tax dollars will not be used to benefit or aid developers and businesses?  What is a little development welfare among friends?

The TCIC would operate without public hearings, open meetings, disclosure to the people, public records, or competitive bidding.  Can this happen in America?  Yes, and don’t be surprised if our right to vote on zoning uses is next on the list to be thwarted by corruptible politicians.  Recent court cases show the Mayor and City Council will deny us our right to vote on zoning issues.  Mayor Procop and City Council are giddy about replacing the voters and citizens of Twinsburg with non-resident developers, non-resident business people in their new government of secrecy known as the TCIC.  They seem eager to negotiate in TCIC private meetings rather than a public venue, do you ever wonder why?

Well, if you folks have eyes to see let him see and ears to hear let me hear.  You have been warned and alerted, best wake up before it is too late.
