5 Interesting Facts About Tuesday's Earthquake

The 5.9-magnitude quake hit many areas across the Eastern Seaboard including Ohio

1. USA Today reports the 5.9-magnitude earthquake hit at 1:51 p.m. EST and lasted about 45 seconds in areas ranging from South Carolina, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and even here in Ohio.

2. Reports from the Associated Press revealed the quake caused problems for cellular companies as everyone grabbed their cellphones to make calls to family and friends. The congestion caused connection problems for many customers.

3. An earthquake also hit Colorado on Monday night, before Tuesday's quake on the Eastern Seaboard. The New York Times reports it was the state's worst event in over a century, although no major injuries were reported.

4. It wasn't the roar of the crowd that caused the stands to shake at Progressive Field Tuesday. The shock was felt as the Cleveland Indians hosted the Seattle Mariners during a day game of a double-header. The Washington Post said play wasn't interrupted, but fans in the upper decks did notice the unusual shaking.

5. President Barack Obama needed a mulligan as he was on the golf course during the quake. Obama was golfing at Martha's Vineyard during the quake and, of course, it is a news story.
