Twinsburg Public Library Preparing For 'The Cause'

Annual "Coffee for a Cause" event raises money to help burned children

Here at the Twinsburg Public Library, we are preparing for our 12th annual "Coffee for a Cause" to raise money for Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) on Friday, April 8, 6:45 p.m.  Please join us!

For this event, local teens perform music, poetry, and comedic skits in a coffee house-type setting, while patrons sip mochas and cappuccinos and dine on home-baked pastries.

The money raised at the event benefits ACBC, an organization that improves the quality of life for young burn survivors and their families by providing funding for research, annual therapeutic residential burn camps, and other year-round activities that support their physical, psychological and social needs.

In the past 10 years, students raised more than $10,000 for the charity.

Local businesses have been generous donors, especially the Rotary Club of Twinsburg, Northcoast Excess and Surplus, and Pervanje Architects.

Cleveland Browns and Indians tickets have been donated by private citizens for raffles. Local candy supplier, Vistar, has helped out by donating candy to sell. The library also sold T-shirts this year for $10, with part of the proceeds benefitting ACBC. The rest of the money is earned through the generosity of audience members purchasing many cups of coffee, frapuccinos, and baked goods.

The main goal is to inspire the audience to help children who have endured a terrible crisis get a brief respite from their pain and worries. We hope that everyone will join us on April 8, at 6:45 p.m. to hear the sounds of some talented, loving and giving teens.
