Twinsburg Public Library's Upcoming Events

Don't miss these fun events coming up at the library

The Blues at TPL Preaching the Blues Monday, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Peter Rutkoff, Professor and Chair of American Studies at Kenyon College, will be back to discuss American Blues and the music of Muddy Waters. Waters took the musical form from the Mississippi Delta to the clubs of Chicago and redefined the genre. This is a grant from the Ohio Humanities Council.

It's Okay: A Play About Autism Wednesday, March 7 - 7:00pm Hiram College's Center for Literature, Medicine and Biomedical Humanities presents this fascinating look at the life of an autistic person. Written and performed by students Cara Battaglia, Allison Fox, and Amy Morton, and directed by Twinsburg resident Brittany Jackson, the play will travel to several different locations throughout Ohio. Twinsburg Library plays host to the troupe on March 7, and we welcome members of the community to enjoy and learn from the play.

Twinsburg Library Academy Award Movie Nights begin on Monday March 19th with the showing of The Help (PG-13.) Watch the Oscars' Best Film and Actor nominees with library friends on Mondays nights through May 14. Admission, popcorn, lemonade and iced tea are on us! Join the Cookbook Club on Tuesday, March 13th when The Tea Lady, Laureen Drapp, will discuss the lore and technique of brewing tea, including a tasting. Bring your favorite tea cup and a tea party-type treat to share along with the recipe for this fun exchange of food tastes and ideas. No pre-registration is required.

TeenCrossings

Hunger Games Party-Thursday, March 22, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Celebrate the release of "The Hunger Games" in theaters. We will be playing games, making a pin, and hosting a potluck. Please bring in a dish inspired by the book. For examples, see a teen librarian. You may also dress as you favorite character. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Practice ACT Exam--Saturday, March 3, from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. This is a free test to prepare for the actual exam.

Anime Cosplay Party-Friday, March 16, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Come dress as your favorite Anime character and participate in Japanese-themed activities including the Ramen Noodle Eating Contest!

Graphic Novel Book Club-Tuesday, February 28, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We will be discussing "Scott Pilgrim, v.1. To get a copy of the book, see a teen librarian.
