WATCH: Hundreds Gather To Honor Jason Lilly's Life

Many from the Twinsburg community came together to celebrate the 17-year-old Lilly

It was an emotional gathering at Pinewood Gardens on Ray Court Friday night.

Hundreds gathered to honor the memory and celebrate the life of Jason Lilly, . Lilly was 17 years old.

"We need to pray for him and his family," Tania Johnson said to the crowd. Johnson is an attendance secretary with the and a family friend of the Lilly's.

"Jay connected each of us here tonight," Johnson said. "Jay knew he had a purpose just like you do."

She said there have been many rumors going around about how Lilly died, and that none of them were true. After that his father came out briefly, telling the crowd his son died of an enlarged heart, according to the doctor who performed the autopsy.

"He's looking down and he appreciates all this," his father said.

Johnson said the family will have services next week, but there were no details available yet.

Many of Lilly's friends and classmates were at the vigil, some of them speaking.

"We're all going to walk across that stage with Jay," said one senior. Lilly would have graduated in May.
