Listen to Colonel Speed Wilson at the 's next installment of the WWII Reminiscences on Saturday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m.  Colonel Wilson was a fighter pilot who fought in three wars: WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. As a Marine, Corsair pilot he flew sorties in the Pacific Theatre of War and was shot down twice. Hear his amazing tale.

Ancient Greek Drama

On Thursday, Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives: A National Conversation with New York acting troupe from the Aquila Theatre will be at the library at 7 p.m. They will present a staged reading of scenes from Greek drama, including selections from Homer’s Odyssey, Aeschylus’ Agamemnon, Sophocles’ Ajax and Euripides’ Herakles. The performance will be followed by a Town Hall style discussion with Ohio State University classics professor Tom Hawkins. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Aquila actors will also hold a workshop on staging classical plays at 6 p.m. which is open to a limited number of adults at no charge. Registration is required for the acting workshop and requested for the staged reading.

Women of Blues and Jazz

Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m., enjoy the Women of Blues and Jazz from the 1920’s to 1960’s with Nancy Bernstein and Drene Ivy, the duo that forms Muszikat-Shalom, will explore the music, life and times of American women jazz and blues artists from the 1920s through the 1960s.

Make Your Own Picture Book

Sunday, April 29, 2pm you can make your own picture book using your own photos, illustrations, and online tools. Children's librarian Meghan Villhauer will show you how to create the perfect story and assemble it online, engaging your child or grandchild. Please note: this program is for adults, but teenagers 16 and up are permitted to attend.

Movie Poster Drawing

The Twinsburg Library has full size theater-style movie posters to give away. Submit a drawing entry at the reference desk for your choice of the following: A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Footloose, Final Destinations 5, Crazy Stupid Love, Paranormal Activity 2, Horrible Bosses, Contagion or The Hangover pt.2. Last date to enter is April 28.

Digital Scrapbooking Your Family History

Learn to scrap your heritage in this class offered on Monday, May 21 at 7-8:30 p.m. Discover how to create heirloom album pages from old family photos and documents. Bring digital copies of your photos or come to the library's computer classroom before the program to scan your originals. Scanners will be available for participants beginning at 6:30 p.m. Make sure to bring a flash drive to save your completed page, or purchase one at the library for $8. Participants will take home 8"x 8" copies of their creations, as well as heritage digital scrapbooking kits. Please bring $1 to cover printing costs. (Familiarity with MS Publisher is required; call the computer classroom at (330) 425-4268 x4 for information about MS Publisher classes or to sign up for the Scrapbooking class.)

Healthy U: Live Well with Chronic Disease

If you or someone you know is dealing with a chronic condition, this six week program will help. Bring your loved ones to learn more about symptoms, self-management, medicines, nutrition and exercise. Attend all six Thursday sessions from May 3 through June 7. Each session begins at 5:30 and lasts 2-1/2 hours. The Healthy U program is co-sponsored by the Administration on Aging, the Area Agency on Aging, and Mature Services. Parents are welcome to Sit Down with a Doctor to talk about their children’s allergies, asthma, or eczema on Monday, May 7 at 9:45 a.m. or Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m.  Meet with Dr. Richard Lavi in this round table discussion. Bring your questions and Dr. Lavi will share his expertise with you. Registration began April 23.
