The scrimmage and the aftermath

Our first scrimmage was like a roller coast. But a roller coaster that just kept plumetting to the bottom. But today at practice we picked things back up and are ready to keep taking steps forward.

This weekend was our first scrimmage. We traveled all the way to Reynoldsburg, Columbus. There, our opponents were Zanesville and Reynoldsburg. It was a fun trip down. We left at 6:45 AM and stopped along the way at a Cracker Barrel. I love team bonding like that. Just sitting together eating and enjoying each others company.

Coach Solis wanted to joke around with me about not coming to my signing day picture, which is this Thursday. She's a jokester like that. I am excited for this upcoming weeks signing day. It's a big step to making my committment to Maryland more official.

But back to the scrimmage. When we arrived we laced up and jumped right into our first quarter. We played 12 minutes quarters against the teams. The first was Reynoldsburg. We played so well. I was very impressed with our defense, especially from how it had been at practice the week before. We really were looking like a team. Right after we played Zanesville and looked pretty good again. Things were looking good. But after our break we went back out to play Reynoldsburg and that's when things started going down hill.

It seemed like our defense was falling apart and that led to our offense falling apart. Both teams started playing us in a zone and started playing with more intensity then us. It wasn't so good. We ended up winning 2 of the quarters out of the five we played. And those two quarters were the first two. I think we just have to work on our consistency and playing with the same intensity and desire all the time.

It will be a lot different this year without Katie and Coley but we will have to make the adjustment, and it's something we are most definitely striving for. Today, Monday, we practiced extremely hard. We had an all defensive practice. It went really well. Everyone was working as hard as they could and I believe we got a lot better.

Tomorrow Coach says we will work on offense. Then Wednesday we have another scrimmage. The season is approaching so fast. It's 17 more days until our first game. I am so excited and ready.

I can't believe my senior season is finally here. This time next year I won't be here, I'll be in Maryland and I can't get that out of my head. It drives me each and every day to give everything I have at practice because I don't want to leave Twinsburg without accomplishing greatness in my last season in this great place.  I have faith that we can and will come together and make our dreams come true.
