Ohio’s government is spending money as if it believes happy days are here to stay.
They aren’t, at least virtually everywhere in the state outside Metro Columbus.
The Buckeye State tells two stories of economic recovery. The story out of Columbus — the one most of the leaders in state government experience on a daily basis — is one of fairly robust employment growth, especially given the headwinds out ofWashington relating to failed Keynesian stimulus, over-aggressive regulation, fossil fuel-hostile energy policy and frightening levels of waste, fraud and abuse.
The story from outside the Interstate 270 beltway and the surrounding area is mostly one of prolonged misery.
