Ohio Members Call on VA to Disclose Progress On Backlog Issue

Today, Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) and the Republican members of the Ohio delegation sent a joint letter to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) requesting monthly accountability reports that disclose the progress of a transformation plan that aims to eliminate the agency’s disability claims backlog.  The monthly reports requested by the Ohio Members of Congress would include benchmarks and specific information on each of the VA’s 40 transformation initiatives. Joyce released the following statement:

“Ohio veterans deserve better than months of waiting to hear back from the VA and it’s a top priority of mine to hold the VA accountable and get our servicemen and women the care they need as soon as possible.”

A copy of the joint letter can be found attached. Currently, approximately 850,000 American veterans await answers from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs regarding their compensation claims. Rep. Joyce is also a cosponsor of the VA Claims Efficiency Through Information Act of 2013, H.R. 1623, which would improve transparency and efficiency in the VA claims process. He is the son of a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient.
