The "Old School"

It is clear that city government feels that the "Old School" has had its day and needs to be demolished in favor of future development. It is also clear that losing this piece of history will break the hearts of many residents and former residents. What is not clear is whether or not we can save the school and include it as a part of that development. In Europe where land is scarce but history is cherished, every effort is made to keep at least the facades of historic buildings. It would make good sense and good governance to take time to explore some other possibilities. If there is no compelling reason to act now can't we postpone the demolition for at least a year?  The building can always be torn down. It can never be rebuilt.
