UPDATED FBI Takes Over Investigation of Twinsburg Bank Robbery

Two men robbed the Key Bank on East Aurora Road and led police on a chase going west on I-480

UPDATED 5:36 p.m.

Twinsburg Police were called to a bank robbery at the Key Bank at the 2500 block of E. Aurora Road at 2:12 p.m. today, according to the Twinsburg Police Department.

The identity of the two men, the amount of money stolen, and whether a weapon was used is not yet known. Lt. Michael Nakata said the case has been turned over to the Akron office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A witness alerted police to a potential robbery, giving a description of the suspects and the car they were in as the person followed them driving west on I-480.

Oakwood Village Police attempted to stop the car heading north on I-271, but the suspects went west to I-480. They got off the highway on Lee Road and turned on to Miles Road, until they hit a pole on East 131 Street, north of Broadway Avenue in Garfield Heights.

Oakwood police were able to catch one of the men who tried to escape on foot.

Both men are being treated for injuries at MetroHealth Medical Center, but their conditions are unknown.
