Fire Chief: No One Home in Thursday Night Fire

The Twinsburg Fire Department responded to a house fire on White Marsh Drive Thursday night

No one was home when the Twinsburg Fire Department responded to a fire on White Marsh Drive Thursday night, said Fire Chief Richard Racine.

Firefighters responded to the call made around 7:45 p.m. and noticed smoke billowing from the back of the house.

“It looked like it was in an upstairs bedroom on the second floor, but it turns out it was in the basement and had burned all the way up,” Racine said. “It probably went undetected until one of the neighbors or a passerby saw smoke coming out of the house,”

The family finally arrived just as the last fire truck was leaving around 10 p.m.While they weren't home at the time, Racine said the family had three cats, two of which were found dead.

Departments from Solon, Hudson, Reminderville, and Aurora helped contain the fire, which Racine said they are still determining the cause of.

“It was a fairly intense fire, so even when you get daylight it’s still hard to determine,” Racine said. “At this point we’ve ruled out anything suspicious. It’s probably accidental.”
