LOOK: Fire Department Tests New Life-Saving Device
The Twinsburg Fire Department had a run through of a new technology developed by University Hospitals
The is always looking for new, innovative ways to help patients as they transport them to the hospital.
Recently the emergency team demonstrated a new cervical collar that doubles as an ice pack, cooling the blood that goes to the brain. It brings the body temperature down so the body doesn't use as much oxygen.
University Hospitals is the only emergency medical provider that uses this device, and they've given the new development to the fire department for trial runs.
