Man Fires Gun While Drinking on Darrow Road

Neighboring residents complained about hearing gunshots on July 8.

Residents along Darrow Road were complaining of loud noises in the area that were either fireworks or gunshots around 8 p.m. on July 8.

Twinsburg police officers were able to track down the noises to a trucking company on the 8500 block of Darrow Road. There they met a 58-year-old male employee who said he heard the noises but wasn't sure where they were coming from. He told officers he was just sitting around drinking beers, according to the police report.

After searching the area again, they came back to the trucking company to talk to the employee, an Elyria man, who denied several times that he had been shooting a gun. He did admit to having a .22 caliber handgun on him.

Once more officers arrived they found three shell casings outside near the business and the man admitted to firing his gun outside.

Police arrested him and found a pipe with marijuana residue and a bag of marijuana in his pockets.

The man was charged with using weapons while intoxicated (first-degree misdemeanor), firing a weapon in the city (fourth-degree misdemeanor) and drug possession (minor misdemeanor).
