Man Thinks Gun Is Good, Police See It Differently
A Bedford Heights man thought his gun was covered under a concealed carry permit, but his permit expired in 2008
They say all good things must come to an end, and apparently that is also true with a concealed carry permit.
When police stopped Fabian Carpenter, 38, of Cleveland Heights on March 16, dispatchers warned he might be carrying a gun when they saw he had an expired concealed carry permit.
Sure enough, Carpenter had his .40-caliber, semiautomatic handgun in his glove box. However, when he told police it was OK because he had the permit, he had no idea it expired three years ago. He reasoned that he just returned from Arizona and that he was a corrections officer for a juvenile facility.
