Mother Charged With Heroin Possession In Front of 7-Year-Old Son

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A report of a domestic dispute in a restaurant parking lot led Twinsburg Police to a drug bust on Aug. 13.

At around 10:15 p.m. police were called to the 2300 block of East Aurora Road after an argument broke out between a man and a woman.

Police found both parties at a gas station down the street where the man said they were arguing about picking her up from work and that she had her seven-year-old son with her.

He informed officers that Amanda Starcher, 29, of Hiram, has used heroin before and that she had an open case with Portage County County Children Services.

Starcher was found in the restroom of the gas station with her son. After police spoke with her they searched her car and found nothing. When they went back to talk to her, she had a purse they hadn't seen before.

After denying any wrongdoing, she admitted to police she had a used heroin syringe, a metal spoon, some marijuana and paper with traces of heroin.

She was arrested and charged with felony possession of heroin, endangering children, possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Her son was released to his grandmother and children services.
