Police Arrest Man After Three-Month Drug Trafficking Investigation

Daniel M. Dezort, 20, of Twinsburg was arrested Wednesday, closing a long investigation by police

The concluded a three-month narcotics investigation after arresting a Twinsburg man Wednesday.

Daniel M. Dezort, 20, was arrested at his home on Abrams Drive and charged with multiple counts of felony drug trafficking, according to press a release.

The investigation started in May after police got a tip Dezort was trafficking marijuana.

After a three-month investigation officers found narcotics, drug paraphernalia and cash inside his home.

"We take drug trafficking very seriously," Chief Chris Noga said. "An arrest like this is taking another supplier off our streets and making them safer."

Detectives believe that Dezort was supplying marijuana to multiple people throughout the Twinsburg area.

Dezort is charged with one count of felony marijuana trafficking (fourth degree), four counts of marijuana trafficking (fifth degree), one count of corrupting another with drugs (felony), one count of underage liquor possession (misdemeanor).

His video arraignment was was this morning for Stow Municipal Court.

Dezort's bond was set at $100,000.

If you don't want your kid smoking marijuana, maybe you should step up your parenting skills. He wouldn't be a concern to you or your child if you could ensure your child wasn't smoking marijuana in the first place.

What I call a waste of money is 2 twinsburg police officers showing up at your door the day after a warrant was issued by the courts for missing a non-traffic citation violation court date. I do not believe that this person is worthless. He has made a mistake and needs to correct change his way of life. He was also caught in 2010 and needs a good support system to change his life.

Hey folks, this is a reminder to please keep the conversation civil. I've deleted several comments for language and making personal attacks on people. Thank you.

I don't thInk the twinsburg patch is right for posting this. All it is doing is harassing Danny dezort and his family. That isn't right, he may have committed a crime but it's only making it worse having people argue over it. I don't care if you're a parent or a kid, doing drugs is anyone's decision. He wouldn't be in trouble for trafficking if there wasn't anyone to buy it. Think about that and show some respect towards his family.

This is the best our police can do? A harmless weed dealer that doesn't even push more than a quarter pound at a time? Go bust a meth lab or something and quit wasting our money.
Liberty4all August 11, 2012 at 12:31 AM
marijuana is not a drug its a plant. Thanks for wasting our money when you should be looking for real crimes
Liberty4all August 11, 2012 at 12:48 AM
Victimless crimes

Also notice on this other drug trafficking case (http://twinsburg.patch.com/articles/canton-man-charged-with-drug-trafficking-possession) they specify how many grams of marijuana they found as well as money, flaunting how well they did. This they obviously had nothing to share because all it says is cash. This one also took three months of investigating, the other was a traffic stop. Great job!

Danny is super hot.
Citizen August 11, 2012 at 07:08 AM
The kid made a mistake yes, but calling him names isnt going to change the situation. Just because someone commits a crime does not make them a loser or completely worthless, especially one so minor. Name calling just shows disrespect and ignorance. Maybe we should spend 3 months looking for lost children and murderers, both way more severe than drug trafficking

YOLO... Weed is not legal in Cali. Your making a fool out of yourself. Please dont post comments unless you know the facts because that is a highly unintelligent and false statement. Weed is DECRIMINALIZED in California but not legal. You still need a prescription to obtain it. You cant just go pick it up in isle 9 at your nearest CVS
SuperMcNasty August 12, 2012 at 02:11 AM
excuse me, ^^^^^^ YOLO has made some valid statements about this incident so he/she is not making a fool of herself. she may have misworded what was "legal" but do you live in Cali? clearly not so you arent mr. brains up there. with that being said, HATERS BACK OFF
Twinsburg August 12, 2012 at 06:02 AM
I dont need to live somewhere in order to understand what is going on. You are right the user has made correct statements, im not doubting that one bit, i was jut correcting a false statement that is all. I am not a hater what so ever.

Wow! I am a parent, and I know Danny. Do I agree with what he was doing, no...but, do I think by taking him off the streets is doing a big justice to Twinsburg...no, it’s not. I would like to say this to the NAIVE parents who think he is the only one who is/was dealing to your kids...he's not! If you talked to your children, or they felt comfortable to speak with you...you would know that there are several kids/adults that are growing this...i.e. "Grow Houses" throughout Twinsburg...and if you know how the street system works, you might understand that it didn't take 3 months for them to do anything...they got a phone call from "someone" telling them about Danny...so that they could get his business...and put him out of business! HELLO?? Now I do know, that the Twinsburg police DO target young kids, make bs traffic stops, they make up stories to search cars...trying to make low level busts. Weed is not the only drug...and half of you parents don't even know that other kids are selling/popping pills in the middle schools. Understand something...educate yourself on what you "can't smell" that’s what you need to do! I know this because my own child told me he had a drug problem at RBC...I was naive...and never again! Put that in your pipe and smoke it…

^ great point, very well said
Justthefacts August 13, 2012 at 11:02 PM
I have been reading the comments here about Mr. Dezort and I have to come to the conclusion that there must have been an officer with an axe to grind against this young man. Why else would a police department spend 3 months and tnousands of dollars of taxpayers money to make this "big" bust?? I understand that a trivial amount of cash and pot was found, he does not own a car or live a flashy lifestyle. Is this your picture of a big time drug dealer??????? I think not........
Steve Michaels August 14, 2012 at 09:29 PM
So Twinsburg Police should ignore warrants? How about taking some responsibility, if you would've went to court like an adult, the police wouldn't have to show up.
Steve Michaels August 14, 2012 at 09:34 PM
Everyone keeps complaining "Why doesn't TPD do something about the cocaine/heroin/blah blah blah?" Here's a thought; if you know about drugs that are being used or sold in Twinsburg, how about calling the police and letting them know about it? And don't play the "I ain't no snitch!" game, you're not a gangster or in the mafia, you live in an upper middle-class suburb. Grow up.
Steve Michaels August 14, 2012 at 09:38 PM
That's Twinsburg Heights, ask whoever polices them.
Steve Michaels August 14, 2012 at 11:18 PM
^Says the mother of Danny Dezort.
Longtimeresident August 15, 2012 at 12:42 AM
In response to the above comment....calls have been made to TPD and reports about drugs in the schools have been reported for years with what seems to be no resolution. The police department seems to be driven by the "easy" traffic stops rather than focusing on the bigger issues in the city.
Steve Michaels August 15, 2012 at 01:32 AM
Oh please, bigger issues in the city? I've lived here for the last 7 years after living in Cleveland for 20. It's night and day. Every city has their 'problems', but Twinsburg is in no way like Cleveland in that regard, probably because the police actually have a presence and take the time for those so called 'easy' traffic stops. I've been pulled over exactly 3 times since I've lived here and have only gotten a ticket once, and I was doing 20 over the limit; I deserved it. At no time did I complain "Why aren't you fighting real crime?" when the cop was issuing me the ticket. Those 'easy stops' probably lead to a host of other crimes or indicators of crimes. The Oklahoma City bomber was caught by a cop doing a traffic stop, btw. The bottom line is that this is a nice place to live, and the fact that people (and this applies to the police and the citizens) have nothing better to do than complain/investigate a pot dealer proves that point.
Steve Michaels August 15, 2012 at 04:52 AM
Sorry about your son, Mrs Dezort.
Twinsburger August 16, 2012 at 02:22 AM
Very sad
Twinsburger August 16, 2012 at 02:26 AM
I'm sure he isnt the only one in the area..it's very sad . However, when one breaks the law they should be held responsible for their actions. You play, you pay...lock the bum up as well as he rest of them. We need to get them off the streets before they do more harm to others and our community.
Mad Hatter August 16, 2012 at 01:49 PM
Steve michaels = officer for TPD.
Really?? August 16, 2012 at 07:53 PM
I was thinking the same thing!
Oblivious August 18, 2012 at 07:14 PM
Steve michaels doesnt get it
JohnDoe VI August 19, 2012 at 03:13 PM
Everyone's so quick to point the finger and judge..when in reality it was your kids calling him for it. So if you did your job as adults and mentors then there wouldn't be any problems would there? Before you start judging and criticizing someone you don't know take a step back and reevaluate yourself. You sound so cool calling a kid 30+ years younger then you a scum or dirtbag.
Cherokeeprincess August 20, 2012 at 08:25 PM
I think there is way more snitches, than Mafia in Twinsburg.. I guess if you have a Italian last name your considered "MAFIA" (not)..
