Police: Drunk Driver Hits Construction Sign, Drags it Down the Road

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Twinsburg police arrested a man just after midnight on June 30 who had done some damage on the roadway.

Carl Gibson, 53, of Streetsboro, was charged with drunken driving, open container and failing to stop after an accident.

According to police, Gibson drove through a construction zone on East Aurora Road and hit a sign, which he then dragged a piece of down the road until he was stopped by police at Walgreen's.

Officers immediately smelled alcohol on his breath and gave him a field sobriety test, which he failed.

They found an aluminum sports bottle with whiskey inside the car, according to the police report. He blew a .145, well over the legal limit of .08 during a breathalyzer test.
