Reminderville Teen Wrecks Car in Suicide Attempt

The 17-year-old boy ran his car off the road on S.R. 91 in an attempt to kill himself

Both Twinsburg Police and Fire departments responded to an overturned vehicle on March 7, several hundred feet off of S.R. 91, across from Post Road.

A 17-year-old Reminderville boy told police he was trying to end his life by running his car off the road. He said he was going almost 80 mph when he flew through the intersection and into the neighboring woods.

The boy's father told officers his son had been hospitalized four times in the past year for mental issues. The father also said it was not his son's first suicide attempt. He had been on medication and electrotherapy, before the last attempt.

Before the incident the boy had sent a text message to his friends telling them what he was going to do. He asked in the message for people like himself to be looked after and helped once he was gone.

He received treatment at Bedford Hospital and was told he would be cited for the accident once he left.
