Store Owner Follows Shoplifter to His Home: The Blotter

The following information was provided by the Twinsburg Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Jan. 30 around noon, officers went to a Stonecreek Lane home for a reported theft. The owner of on Ravenna Road had followed a shoplifter to his house. Officers spoke to the owner of hardware store and the suspected shoplifter. According to the report he had taken a bag of salt and ice melt. The man was arrested and charged with theft and later released on bond.

On Jan. 23 officers stopped a car on I-480 at SR 91  for expired plates. Police found a loaded 45-calibur handgun in his glovebox. The driver was arrested for carrying a concealed gun and improper handling of in gun in a car. He was cited for expired plates and possession of marijuana.

On Jan. 24 police stopped a car with a driver who didn't have a valid license. Officers searched the car and found drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles. Also located in the vehicle were items that were associated with previous thefts from auto reports. The man was arrested and charged with four counts of theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments, and driving without a valid license.

On Jan. 24 a resident reported that someone entered two unlocked cars in their driveway overnight and took an undetermined amount of loose change from each car.

On Jan. 24 police responded to a Rolling Hills home for a reported stolen car. Officers talked to the victim and later the car was found at a Ravenna Road apartment complex and released to the owner.

On Jan. 25 a person reported a theft to the police. An officer spoke to the victim who said her ex-husband had taken one of her debit cards and made several unauthorized withdrawls from various ATMs, adding up to $1,609.50.
