Suspended License Leads to Arrest For Warrant

A 19-year-old Maple Heights man was pulled over for a bad backup light when police found his license was suspended and had a warrant out

Police made a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation at the intersection of Ravenna Road and Whitewood Parkway on April 5.

The driver, Javon Smith, 19, of Maple Heights, was unable to provide officers with a driver's license during the stop. When they did a background check, cops found the reason why. Smith was driving on a suspended license.

To make matters worse, he also had a warrant for his arrest from the Garfield Heights Police Department for failure to appear in court. Smith was taken into custody and cited for driving under a supended license and a backup light violation.
