Police: Driver Knocks Car Off I-480, Flees Before Officers Arrive

Numerous arrest warrants were filed against Molly E. StClair last week after she reportedly lied to a Twinsburg police officer about an accident she allegedly caused.

On Feb. 22 at 5:21 p.m., StClair, 29, of Austintown, clipped another car while driving on Interstate 480 Westbound, causing both cars to spin off the road, according to a Twinsburg police report.

When police arrived, they spoke to the driver that had been struck, and he informed officers a woman who identified herself as Molly gave him her number and drove off, saying she was late for a funeral.

The driver was not injured, according to the report.

When an officer called StClair, she denied any involvement in the accident, claiming her mother had just been in an accident, not her.

StClair's story then reportedly changed several times about where she was, whom she was with and who was driving.

She finally admitted to being in the accident, but said she didn't cause it. She also admitted to driving under a suspended license, and said she left the accident scene before poilce arrived to avoid further legal trouble, police said.

Youngstown police officers were dispatched to her house and photographed her car.

Twinsburg police used the photos to conclude the damage matched the victim's description of events, not StClair's.

StClair has been charged with hit-skip and driving under suspension, both first-degree misdemeanors; and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

She pled not guilty on all charges during her arraignment in Stow Municipal Court on Feb. 28, according to the Stow Clerk of Courts Office.

Her pretrial is slated for March 11 at 2:30 p.m.
