These new numbers examine the sex and age of the population, relationships of households, households by type and housing occupancy.

Twinsburg is living longer

In 2000 there were 195 people over the age of 85 (1 percent) and the average age was 36. In 2010 the number of people over 85 doubled to 422 (2 percent). This caused the average age to increase to 41.

The average age is also increased by the fact the the population of children under the age of 5 has decreased. In 2010 there were 1,077 small children, making up 5 percent of the population. Back in 2000, that age range was at 8 percent.

More women than men in the city

The 2010 data sets revealed the population is 53 percent female and 47 percent male. There are 9,999 women in Twinsburg, compared to 8,856 (52 percent) in 2000. The average female age is 43.

While the number of men has increased over the past 10 years, they represent less of the population. There are 8,796 men in Twinsburg (47 percent). In 2000 the male population was at 8,150, but they comprised 48 percent of the population.

Families are bigger, but not by much

The average family size has grown in Twinsburg, but only slightly. In 2000 the average family size was at 3.08 people per family. In 2010 it was at 3.09.
