Beginning Stages of New Bike Path at Simecek Drive Approved

Twinsburg Planning Commission approved the preliminary plan for a multipurpose bike trail along the road

Because May is "Bike Month" in Twinsburg, it seems only fitting that Planning Commission would approve the beginning stages of a new bike path.

The commission approved a multipurpose bike trail along Simecek Drive at Monday night's meeting by a vote of 3-0 (Mark Cohen and Chris Griffith were absent).

The proposed trail would be an eight-foot-wide bike path as a substitute for two five-foot-wide sidewalks alongside Simecek Drive. Essentially, the bike path would be on one side and a regular sidewalk would be on the other.

"I think it's a good idea," said Bob McDermott, the city council representative.

Planning Commission also approved a dedication plat for the same road that would change it from a private street to a right-of-way for a planned development in the area.
